Doki Doki Crate is a box full of adorable items that are meant to bring more cuteness to an otherwise mundane month, and bring the subscriber closer to Japan through this crate of kawaii. Each crate usually holds 5 to 7 practical items including apparel, collectibles, household goods, plushies and other special surprises.
Brand names include Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma, Hoppe-Chan, Pusheen, Gudetama, Neko Atsume, Hatsune Miku, and much more.

Near the beginning of August, I received the bright magenta box in the mail, and was instantly very happy with the package. And I hadn't even opened it yet!
The first item I took out of the box was the monthly comic/ items list that sat neatly on top of all the other items.

Then there was a whole array of items that I could choose to look at first, and my stomach med me right to the Fruity Milk flavored Tohato Caramel Corn! For those who are unfamiliar with this Japanese snack, Tohato is a real treat, and this box gave the rarer flavor of Fruity Milk!

Next was an item that I had been looking at purchasing for a while, and was very happy to receive in the crate. A Yume no Hoshi ribbon, which is an important part of a standard Japanese school uniform. Yume no Hoshi translates to Dream Star, and it's said to help make wishes come true, and can be worn in your hair, over your heart or as a backpack decoration.

I was attracted to the plushy next, which is the small white owl from Chun Chun Friends Plushies: Journey Version, I loved how he was carrying a furoshiki (which is a piece of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth commonly used to transport clothes, gifts, or other goodies). He was so soft and the perfect size to hold in my hands.

By far the coolest contraption in the August crate was the vitamin ballpoint pen. It came in the form of a vitamine, and when you remove the cap and give it a shake, the pen extends and becomes usable. The kawaii face only makes this space-saver even cuter!

The Totoro cup was no surprise to me as I saw it while scrolling through Doki Doki Crate's Facebook page. It was a little smaller than I expected, but nonetheless an adorable addition to my Studio Ghibli collection.

Cinnamoroll is probable one of my favorite characters ever, so was very pleased to receive a letter set and note pad featuring my favorite little bunny. With an adorable pattern and cute size, this is going to be the perfect way to communicate with my friends the old fashioned way. Hopefully my kanji gets a little better though...

Lastly, but certainly not least, is the precious Kakegori Hoppe-Chan keychain. Hoppe-Chan is a small blob of Kakegori (Japanese shaved ice), and is a big sensation in Japan, and in this box I received her in the flavor Melon. She glows in the dark and even has an adorable sunflower in her hair.
(I couldn't find her in time for this blog post so here's the photo of her from the August manga)

Overall I really enjoyed this month's crate, and since this was my first crate with Japan Crate I will definitely be continuing my subscription to Doki Doki Crate!
